EU-Mexico trade deal could be finalized before year-end, Italy's Tajani says

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) -A long-stalled free trade agreement between the European Union and Mexico could be signed by the end of the year, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on Thursday.

"Yesterday I spoke with (European Commission President Ursula) von der Leyen and (European Trade Commissioner Maros) Sefcovic about the agreement," Tajani said. "I think it's time to move forward."

Tajani, speaking from Mexico, added that Italy wants to boost investments in the Latin American nation, potentially through shipbuilder Fincantieri or in the machinery and aerospace sectors.

"Without tariffs, we all win," he added in comments shared by Mexico's economy ministry.
